Nubian Queenz
Donna Summers
The Nubian Queenz are an up-and-coming female singing trio, Babz Patterson, Lillyan Harper and Jess Hyman from London. Their smooth unique vocal harmonic style has created a buzz around industry bods with their track ‘Baby Don’t You Know’ after just unlimited airplay on local radio stations. The Trio met through the ‘Reggae Choir’ based in Stratford, London of which they were all members. They formed a friendship as they travelled home together from choir practice. Fellow passengers admired and some commented on the sound of their beautiful harmonic tones. It was then that they decided to do something together that the emersion of the group began. Jess had a song that she loved to sing, but needed backing singers, so they decided to go to a studio one day for a jamming session, which produced some great vibes between them. This was the inspiration that the trio needed to take things to the next level. With the help of their friend Chopper and Foundation Studios, not only was Lovers Rock ‘Born Again’, but there were fortunate enough to be in the presence of Al Campbell who is responsible for naming the ladies
Babz Patterson
Was born in London and grew up and still lives in Willesden, Babz grew up listening to Soul and Reggae music especially Lovers Rock because of all the harmonies. She used to sing over all the songs. Richard Alexander Davis
Luther Vandross
Richard has been actively involved in the Music business for the last 16 years, playing and singing in several bands. He has a very mixture of musical taste, for example, rock, jazz, classical, pop and soul, and it influenced by such artist as Luther Vandross, Gwen Guthrie, and Freddie Jackson, amongst others. He has also paid on television and radio. Don’t stop believing is a soft soul dance number which should go down well with your audience.
Richard’s first taste of success was as a winner of Melody Maker’s ‘Battle Of The Bands’ and then on an ITV music competition with his band Mixed Breed. During the early 1980’s he worked with talented US musicians playing funk and soul standards of the time, on the busy club circuit.
By the 1990’s Richard was signed to Hysteria Records as a solo artist & scored huge dance chart hits with ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and ‘Party On’. In 1995 Spice Girls’ producers Absolute produced the song ‘Deep Inside’ which also became a sizeable hit for him.
Richard has also worked with the likes of Eddy Grant, The Nightcrawlers, Tears For Fears and Omar but his love of that classic ‘old skool’ sound has remained intact throughout his career. This can be best heard on his 2008 self-titled album and his follow-up a year later in the shape of ‘Lovin’ You Direct’. Even more recently Richard
has featured on the highly acclaimed Soul Unsigned compilation series.
In 2020, Richard released an up-tempo cover version of Sherrick‘s classic ‘Just Call’, produced by UK soul ledge Don-E.
We enjoyed an early Saturday night performance in 2011 on the Main Stage of our 5th Summer Soulstice from Richard, who is a true gentleman and yet another quality addition to our Hall Of Fame!

Shenton Dixon
Barry White
Shenton hails from Leicester. He’s the eldest child of the Late Rev. Melvin Dixon and Rev, Meleta Constancia Dixon both are gospel ministers. At aged 3, he gave his first live performance reciting a poem his mother wrote:
At 12 years old, he played his first ever secular gig with a local reggae band (EXODUS). The regular guitarist had broken his hand, so Shenton stepped in on the rhythm guitar duties. The manager John Martin (aka Dadda) had to promise his strict devout Christian parents to take the young Shenton home straight after he strummed his final chord. He was true to his word.
He played in various local bands after leaving school where he honed his skills further on either electric or bass guitar but always ended up gravitating to being the lead singer.
He tried his hand at various trades before making a conscious decision to go back to college to go to drama school. Towards the end of his first year, he saw an advert in the stage magazine looking for Actors who could play an instrument. He ventured down to London just to get some valuable audition experience in lieu of going to drama school, but to his amazement was offered the part by the producer Paul Elliot & director Rob Bettison, after 3 months of searching they finally found their man.
Shenton jumped at the chance & accepted the role as the performer at the Apollo theatre in the worldwide smash, hit musical BUDDY. The producers were so impressed with his performance and due to public demand, they extended his part to include the song, ” I’m gonna party ” which he co-wrote with the musical director the late Paul Drury. He also was featured in the original Tamla Motown Musical, “DANCING IN THE STREETS” playing alongside the late great EDWIN STARR.

Tammy Payne
Teena Marie
After releasing a couple of dance chart hits, notably “Take Me Now” on Gilles Peterson’s now iconic label Talkin Loud in the early 90’s,
Tammy took a U-Turn. Rather than make the soul / dance album fans expected, she took time out to play congas in salsa bands, travel to
Brazil to learn bossa nova and release eclectic music under various guises. This period saw her sing, drum and write with a long line of
co-producers including Boca 45, Sissi, Smith and Mighty and Jukes a well as touring as a drummer with PJ Harvey producer John Parish.
The covers album Don’t Think Twice on Edition records presents he as a great story – teller as well as radical re-interpreter of classic
songs.
After being hard to keep track of over the years with her various band names Tammy returned to ‘herself’ and released the self-penned Viva Outsider album under her own name to such reviews as “She’s exceptionally soulful with a story-teller’s gift for immersing herself in the tales she tells.” Bruce Lindsay, All About Jazz.
She continues to write and perform and is currently re-immersed in her love of latin and jazz.
